Washington Seattle, WA 98104 http://www.fenixunderground.com Tickets are $12 at Ticketmaster ![]() Pure Cirkus started out as a Seattle based piercing/ suspension group called P.U.R.E. (people undergoing real experiences). Over the course of 3 years the group grew larger and larger as it began to perform shows both public and private, pulling together many talented performers who strived to push the limits of the human mind and body in an ancient art form that dates back to the oldest mummy found to date until it finally evolved into what is now PURE CIRKUS. As P.U.R.E entered into its 3rd year performing all over Seattle it spawned its own fire troupe, run by Xavier Frost and Jennifer Morgensen. Soon enough it began to take on all forms of entertainers such as jugglers, clowns and other creeds of artists that simply wanted to place that they could entertain and grow as a performer. So began Pure Cirkus. The group that began as a private get together of friends to create an inspiring personal experience born out of our primordial society has transformed into Pure Cirkus. A blend of clowns, fire, suspension/piercing, dancers, acrobats, musicians and artists from all over that have come together to build what we hope will be a long lasting cirkus that will come to entertain people for generations. http://www.purecirkus.com ![]() Betty X Considering herself first and foremost a conceptual artist and performer rather than a singer, Betty X’s sardonic wit and unapologetic temperament is mirrored in both her music and her powerful (and often theatrical) stage performances. Her music has been described as everything from enigmatic and surreal, to aggressive, nihilistic, and brooding — as well as sarcastic and snide. The lyrical content, mostly cleverly disguised social commentary, is metaphoric and often tongue-in-cheek. With a degree in fine art, Betty got her start in music when she formed the sleazy and provocative art rock band, Salon Betty, in the late-90’s. After several independent releases, the group disbanded and she decided to make her solo debut with the electro-industrial EP release Bad Side of Love in 1999, which was a dramatic departure from the campy and raucous lo-fi sound of Salon Betty. In 2004, she released a follow-up EP, Dystopia — a violent industrial-metal soundtrack to a living nightmare. Shortly thereafter, she was approached by independent filmmaker Craig Kovach to have several of her songs featured on the soundtrack to his latest horror film, Unearthed, featuring Tom Savini (Dawn of the Dead, From Dusk Til Dawn). During this time she also began working with Martin Atkins (Pigface, Ministry, PIL), providing guest vocals on several side projects, including Pigface and Sheep On Drugs. Currently, Betty X is finishing up her third solo release, Memoirs of a Pain Junkie. The new release promises to be heavier and more abrasive than anything previously released. http://www.bettyx.com ![]() Breaks to Breakcore and back Naha (Graylife – Seattle) In her ten years behind the decks, NAHA has crafted her mixing style and technique which is as diverse as the genres she spins, including techno, breakbeats, digital hardcore, hip-hop, and jungle. She has found an amalgamation of these sounds in her specialty, breakcore. She has played all across the U.S. and in Canada. In Seattle she has held dozens of residencies, hosted online radio shows, produced numerous events and inspired a new generation of djs and dancers. Her latest accomplishment is making the #33 spot on the international list of Top 100 Female DJs (Shejay.net) Always endeavoring to present something unexpected and play tracks that are new to the audience has set her apart, constantly re-creating her own unique style. ![]() The Bad Things - Bubbling forth like a mossy belch of polka filth from the greasy, jet fuel-contaminated wetlands of the Northwest, comes The Bad Things. No more guilt!” That simple direction, to bring joy where there is none, and to remove the guilt that keeps you from being your beautiful self, has, over the last 25 years, spawned a world-wide phenomenon while at the same time landing us on the Pope’s list of Heretics in 1987—go figure. There exists, today, a Sister presence on five continents (there were already too many penguins in Antarctica, it would just be too confusing). The Abbey of St. Joan, in Seattle, WA, continues continue to educate the public on safer sex issues, we fight for queer rights and visibility, we address women’s issues and the needs of homeless youth, and support other community organizations that share our vision. We are often asked, “Why are you mocking nuns?” Well, we ARE nuns, silly! We recognize what “women of the cloth” have done over the centuries. They raise money for the needy, we raise money for the needy. They tend to the sick, we tend to the sick. They build their communities, we build our community. They have taken vows of celibacy, we… we have raised money for the needy. We are nuns for the 21st Century! http://www.theabbey.org/ Spiritual Readings by: ![]() One of the most gifted clairvoyant/psychic/medium Seattle has...
