His sound has been injected into dancefloors worldwide, varying tempos and textures in a wobbling vapor field of bassline saturation. Michael Shrieve, drummer for Santana and lover of drum'n'bass, took him under his wing and showed him off to anybody and everybody: Andy Summers of the Police, Bill Frisell, Amon Tobin, Jack Dejohnette, Will Calhoun, and many more. Kevin at this time was playing an amazing next-generation drumkit: a custom half-acoustic, half electronic kit with one diabolically huge kick drum, one insanely tiny kick drum, three snares, a multitude of trashy sounding cymbals & saw blades, a few electronic drum pads and all the acoustic drums set to electronic triggers. His band was the all-improvisatory avant-garde trio Siamese. Kevin was always recording his own material, which is now seeing the light of day with his present project "that will never break up" -KJ Sawka. Using some of Seattle's most widely-known underground female singers, they bring a balance of Seattle darkness, moodiness and beauty. For many live music venue gigs, Kevin also employs a full band -featuring ethereal female vocals, a keyboardist, and a cellist performing similar material in an in-your-face way that only the reverse-engineering, seemingly bionic Mr. Sawka can bring. http://www.kjsawka.com ![]() Kristina Childs (Plasmodium/Krakt/Decibel – SEA) "The first time I heard this music, I knew I wanted to play it," says Kristina Childs. Starting in 1999 with a mixture of funky house, techno and drum & bass, Childs quickly evolved her style into the eclectic mix of genres she has brought to clubs and parties around the world. As well as being a guest DJ at many clubs in and around Seattle, she has played in Frankfurt, Bogotá, Medellin, Dallas, New York, Portland, and Coeur D’Alene. She has held residencies at Seattle clubs Contour, Habana's, Art Bar, See Sound Lounge, and is a current resident of Tost Lounge, Deep House Originals, and Seattle’s infamous techno monthly, aptly named Krakt. She runs Plasmodium Radio and is the Sponsorship Coordinator for Decibel Festival. Lately she has found a renewed vision and drive to expand her skills into production. "I still love everything about playing records, and I doubt I’ll ever stop," she says, "but now I want to share my own music. (People Undergoing Real Experiences). For two years the group performed only within the small community of body modification and suspension, keeping to nightclubs and private events. Over the course of three years several members of the group began to delve into more traditional Cirkus acts such as fire performance and juggling to expand and broaden its audience. In the summer of 2005, as they began combining both cirkus talents and body modification, the group realized that they had something far larger then they had ever imagined. On Oct 28th 2005, almost overnight, the group called P.U.R.E was transformed into Pure Cirkus and performed for the first time under their new name. By pulling together talented performers from all over the country they push the limits of the human mind and body by combining Cirkus performance with Tribal theatre. They have embraced all forms of entertainers such as jugglers, clowns, sideshow freaks, fire, suspension and piercing enthusiasts, dancers, acrobats, aerialists, musicians and other circus and cabaret artists that have come together to build what will be a lasting circus that will entertain people for generations. http://www.purecirkus.com Special Guests: ![]() March Fourth Marching Band has evolved into a mobile big band spectacular, consisting of a 14-piece horn section, a 10-piece drum/percussion corps, anchored by electric bass (battery powered).
